Did you have any insight into your illness?

I know I’m going through a rough patch right now. Brain no workie right. My thoughts can’t come out. I’m kinda stuck in neutral.

Except for a few months, I’ve had some glimpse of insight throughout my illness longevity. It helped that I got help really quick.

I suspected my thinking was a little off.

Hmmm I get embarrassed after usually I believe everything when it happens although I’m pretty sure I don’t have mental illness anymore!! I’m gonna ask my doctor to take me off meds! The reason I feel I’m cured is becuase I was on high doses of two antipsychotics years ago and still had delusions and hallucinations and fast forward to now and I’m on a low dose of haldol and I’m completely fine ! Hmmmm maybe my doctor will slowly taper me off I don’t know haha :joy:

I wanna go on lithium! Is that a good med it’s ruins your thyroid hmmm maybe I shouldn’t ha ha!

I felt better when sleeping and around sleeping time, symptoms were less. btw You need to tag me like that @Aziz so I can receive a notification.

Symptoms started, positive symptoms.

Insight is rare but not unheard of with first episode psychosis. Please ask these questions with your primary treatment team. If your in the process of being diagnsosed you need to trust the process and yes it’s frustrating but be patient.

I had 0 insight the first year till I exploded then someone told me I was having psychotic symptoms. I didn’t even know what bipolar or schizophrenia was then.

i didn’t have any insight. i do now when medicated properly but it’s still hard to see what is real and what is not.

@Artandfood I have to ask, are you writing a book or something? Not that that would bother me, but I’m just curious

Haaa, no. I guess I’m just a curious person and hearing other peoples feedback comforts me and makes me feel less alone

I had some insight from the very beginning but I chose to ignore it and go into denial because I didn’t want my psychosis and suicidal depression interfering with my nursing career. But my symptoms eventually became so bad that they forced the issue.

I’m sorry you went through that, can I ask you what your worst symptoms were and what happened when they forced the issue? I feel like that’s where I’m at

@Aziz Hi! I’m wondering if you experienced this? Would you watch the same movies again and again when you were psychotic or obsess just in general and not be able to focus on anything?
