did you ever say ‘‘keep the change’’ when buying something?
Yes, if the change wasn’t too big of course.
When I was making a lot of money, and if the business was local and small. There’s a sandwich shop I go to all the time, my usual meal of a toasted roast beef and swiss with mayo and honey mustard and a 16oz can of mt dew costs 7.34 after tax, and I just give them a ten…the food is awesome, and worth waaay more than they charge. I mean the sandwich I get has almost a full half pound of meat plus a 1/4 pound of cheese and it comes with onions and greenpeppers no charge. compared to the subway down the road where it costs 9.47 for a sandwich a 1/5th the size…I mean how can they justify almost 10 dollars for three slices of meat and three slices of cheese, with no condiments no veggies, just a sub roll, and some thin slices of meat and cheese? I mean SERIOUSLY???
I also say keep the change to the kid who sells me fiddleheads., he charges 3.99 a pound (which is cheap for fiddleheads) and I buy two pounds and give him ten.
And of course when I buy a box of Girl Scout cookies, I give an extra dollar a box (you may not believe it but some troops only make about 50 cents a box…)
I always tell my hairdresser to keep the change - she doesn’t charge enough. We rarely dine out, but we tip well when we do.
Yeah I said once keep the change you filthy animal. The person didn’t get the allusion though.
