Did you ever meet someone else with SZ outside of this forum?

Yes a good friend of mine has sz too.And someone I met at the local clubhouse I go to here.

Iā€™ve been in psyche wards and hospitals with other schizophrenics, Iā€™ve had friends with schizophrenia, Iā€™ve worked with people who have schizophrenia, Iā€™ve had neighbors who have had schizophrenia, Iā€™m sure some of the homeless around my neighborhood have schizophrenia. I knew a guy who I saw for years in AA who had schizophrenia. I donā€™t know all their stories except for pieces and fragments. My friends and me didnā€™t really talk regularly about our disease. It came up and we might tell funny stories or our adventures. We never wernt in depth about our symptoms. We just told occasional anecdotes every now and then. I should add that my friends with schizophrenia were much nicer and cooler and treated me much better than any friend I had before I got sick.

I met a girl with SZ that I worked with and we ended up having a fling for a few weeks. Didnā€™t work out because I had no insight at the time. She was a really funny girl and was very open about her MI. I never talked to her about any of her delusions or anything. I actually opened up to her and complained about being forced on meds at the time because I thought what was going on in my head was real. Little did I know it wasnā€™t.

Yes I know a really nice guy at my local wellbeing centre. He has lots of problems and I think he is over-medicated. Iā€™ve only seen him lucid once or twice when he was tapering. Really nice guy with similar interests, but I canā€™t hold a serious convo with him because he is easily triggered. I just make sure he gets regular hugs.

If you go to Nami or support groups you meet a lot of people. Most have their own stories. Some people arenā€™t doing so well, some are just getting by, and some try to live like normal people. there are a lot who arenā€™t aware that theyā€™re sick.

I have only met a couple people outside of the mental hospital with (what I think was) SZ. I met them in passing and they were clearly delusional and mentally ill. They were speaking about fantastical delusions that they believed. I listened politely during our short exchanges. Never got their ā€˜storiesā€™.

I have 1 friend our kids hang outā€¦ and one I run into sometimesā€¦ the first one is enjoyable companyā€¦ the second is on and off meds so it mostly triggers the crap out of meā€¦ hes an old fart but I watched him jam his thumb against a grown mans back making him crap himselfā€¦ so I try to just avoid grandpa bruce lee but I act friendly and chuckle at his jokes if he sees meā€¦ the poop threat on top of him triggering me for what I suspect is fun makes him a crap szā€¦ no butts about itā€¦ so I have a 50/50 view on meeting other sz in publicā€¦ ones a cool friend the other is a weird trigger poop bullyā€¦ thatā€™s a weird set of skillsā€¦

heres another question to those who have met other sz in real lifeā€¦ do you recommend this website?

I have not to either oneā€¦

master of the poop style would only squeal like a fat hog at the thought of fawxing with everybody I see him being perma banned the same day he makes an accountā€¦ and my stable buddy keeps himself busy doing stuffā€¦ fixing buying selling trading ectā€¦ I doubt he would even look at itā€¦and if he does I fear it would mess up his routineā€¦ so I just left it aloneā€¦

I met George Bush. We had quite a conversation. He confided in me that he had been off of his medication for the first two years of his presidency. And that he fired his psychiatrist in 2004 after the guy repeatedly made passes at Laura.

Iā€™ve known quite a few, from in the hospitals, family reunions, through work (when I did work) and mostly I think, because I worked with the public, the customers.
Too many tales to tell, not enough time.

I actually met dr. zen one time. gave him some of my most prized paintings. @TheGreatestDrZen

no but my best friend has multiple personality disorder or dissociative identity i think its called nowā€¦but they dont know it but i know they do theyre extremely interesting I like them

Yes, Iā€™ve met many people over the years with schizophrenia. I had to stop seeing one because he was having delusions about me.

I met many people with schizophrenia at the welfare home. One of them has become my good friend. He improve dramatically after he mixed with several other normal individuals (outside the welfare home).

Living in welfare home may not be a good option as it makes people there out of touch with reality.

My best friend has schizophrenia, Iā€™ve known her for upwards of five years now. Soon I am going to be meeting one of my friends girlfriend, who has schizoaffective disorder. Iā€™ll be the first person sheā€™s ever met in person who is schizoaffective, and sheā€™ll be the first person who Iā€™ve ever met in person who has schizoaffective disorder too.
