Did my annual ritual

I have posted this in the previous years, basically my annual ritual is to visit the graveyard where people who starved to death in 1868 have been buried. There are 281 people who have been buried in this graveyard.

Every time I visit there makes me to think how much starvation there is still in this world of ours, never again, but those were different times back in 1868, the world was different, but still there is a lot of starvation in our world.

That’s true. Lack of food and clean water is still a pervasive problem in some parts of the world. It’s kind of shocking that this is still the case.

Why did they starve?

it was the years of starvation, they built a channel that still exists today, basically in 1867-8 there was just lack of food, and then there was different illnesses.

Oh that’s sad, but if there ever were a beautiful place to be laid to rest, that is the place.

How long have you been doing this ritual?

Maybe since I came back from the US, I used to live very close to this graveyard and I visited there often. Not many people visit this graveyard, but I think it is good to respect those who gave their lives in building something that is good for the society. The times were different in 1868, Finland was still a part of Imperial Russia.

It is good of you to honor them and honor their lives in your heart. The fact that it is a lesser known site sort of makes it more intimate and special, I think.

yes that is a good thing to do.
