Did anyone ever ask you to marry them? Or did you ask anybody?

I was in the mental hospital and this girl named Julie asked me to marry her at midnight. I think she was bipolar but turns out she had a husband who she told me she doesn’t truly love. But he visited her every day till she was stable so yea.

No. I’ve never asked anyone to marry me and no one has asked me to marry them. I’ve had a few offers for dates which I turned down. I lived with my parents or my Mom until my 40’s so my age was already a factor when I was finally on my own and I chose public assistance out of a huge fear of becoming homeless. I did once ask someone if she knew of a Medicaid marriage that had lasted more than 30 years. She said she knew several (I was asking out of curiosity). I don’t honestly know how they do it but there’s a lot I don’t know about the World.

If u don’t mind me asking what do u mean by public assistance? I’m 26 and fear being homeless bc I can’t really work these days and I, too, live with my parents. I’m on dissability but it’s only $490-700 a month. I don’t know what I’m going to do. Is “public assistance” group living or something?

I’ve been asked twice, and said yes twice. The first lasted 25 years, and we are still friends today, although the last 5 years with him was a constant heartache.
My second husband and I just hit the 4 year anniversary this month, hope to make it por siempre…
I’ve been married longer than I have been single.

Some call it SSI. Some call it welfare. Some call it disability although it’s not officially disability. Basically since I hung around college too long without earning a salary and then got sick at 23 (I didn’t admit I had it for another year) I was disqualified for SSDI and the fact they didn’t allow me to work for pay for the majority of time I worked or called it volunteer work for the time i worked as a VISTA employee I didn’t earn enough work credits for officially be on SSDI or what most people call disability in the US. Now I can’t work and am on this SSI which provides a check of $735 a month and the lowest form of medical insurance in the country which does pay for your mental health care which makes it dangerous to go off of. And if you check out SSI 'work incentives" and the lowest amount you can earn and stay classified as disabled, the limitations on living with others, the situation you face if you have kids, and the limits on where you can live you’ll appreciate the bs.

I have been asked. I said yes but in a casual way. I’ve also been told in a round about way that she would say yes if I asked to marry and that she had considered it before. I love that woman though. I would not think about marriage until everything was perfect. I want to do it right and make it amazing and great.
