It is fascinating that the gut brain connection has come to the fore lately. Can you imagine taking a pre and probiotic to treat sz and that it works? It would be wonderful… :slight_smile:

“This review suggests a transdiagnostic commonality of microbial disturbances in MDD [major depressive disorder], bipolar disorder, anxiety, and psychosis and schizophrenia, characterized by depleted anti-inflammatory butyrate-producing bacteria and enriched proinflammatory bacteria,” the researchers conclude in the new study.

Some OTC probiotics have a prebiotic that is intended to serve as “food” for the butyrate producers.
