Depot nurse accidentally pricked herself with needle earlier today

I had my depot at my house earlier and after the injection the needle head got stuck in the plastic bit that goes over the needle when its been used and she accidentally pricked herself. She acted calm. I was really worried for her because I felt bad if she gets anxious. I reassured her that I haven’t got any diseases. She phoned me at 5pm and asked if it was okay with me to go to the hospital and have blood works done tomorrow and she will pick me up.

I feel bad that if she feels anxious. I know I would in similar situation. She knows I don’t take drugs or am not sexually active. she knew I was anxious about it myself as I started pacing. I’ve known her 12 years and I feel bad. She told me occasional health told her their had been 146 needle pricks in the NHT trust and its quite common.

Sorry to hear she pricked herself. You don’t have to feel bad though.

A few months ago I was giving myself the depot and without thinking I popped the cover off the needle then stupidly pulled the thing you call the plastic bit over the needle. I tried taking it off but that thing does not come off easy. Good thing invega comes with two needles, one inch and 1.5"

I have stabbed myself several times giving shots to others. Most recent was the needle for my son’s insulin.

The forst time was about 12 years ago when I was recapping a syri ge after giving my mom insulin. I freaked out because I knew she carried herpes.

Turns out it is very near impossible to get it like that bit I was terrified until I got tested twice.
