Dentures. Who has them? What are they like?

It looks like I’m going to lose a front tooth. My dentist says it’s from historical smoking :smoking:. I believe it’s from 10 years of heavy sub ohm (lot of clouds!) vaping.

I feel devastated.

I don’t want to get an implant like @labratmat , as there’s a risk of death during the process!

So a removable denture it will be.

Who already has dentures? What are they like?

I don’t understand @everhopeful
Your getting full dentures for one tooth?

Don’t you mean a partial?

I’ve never heard there is risk of death with implants. I’ve only heard that you can’t smoke because else there is a risk the implant gets rejected.

Where did you here that?

I’ve no idea. I’m not getting anything yet. I don’t know anything about them, but dentures are on the cards.

I hated my partial denture.

One in five give up wearing partial or full dentures apparently.

At least a lot of people remove the partial to eat.

You’ll soon see why!

That’s what I was afraid of.

Still, it is painless.

With lemon water my teeths are feeling better, but the colour turn to gold.

It’ll began with a whitener toothpaste, my gums gone worse with that…

I have them. The first six months suck and there is no avoiding it. After that they are freedom.

Do not have them made by a dentist. Dentists usually offer when they pull your teeth. Be patient and have them made by a real denturist.

I have two dental implants. I have not heard of risk of death related to implants. I have not had any issues with either implant. In the US, dental implants are quite expensive, even if you have dental insurance. Perhaps when told the cost of dental implants, one could keel over from sticker shock?

That joke made me laugh. I wonder how many people have had a heart attack when seeing their medical bill.

Me neither.

Risk of rejection but not death.

@everhopeful must be referring to when they did operations in the 19th century

You know, when they chopped legs off with a hacksaw!

I think it’s extremely rare. Some people die in an air crash as well, but that won’t stop me from flying.
