Delusions and psychosis

When I had a real life event years ago, and I now become psychotic, I would tell the events different than they actually happened….most of it true though

It is if my brain draw pictures and colour them in sometimes with bizarre ideas. It is really false beliefs.

When in psychosis I have told friends, family and my pdoc about real events with a twist, only realising months or years later that I have talked a lot of nonsense.

Does this happen to you as well?

Sounds like “false memories”. These happen with mental illnesses like OCD, schizophrenia, etc. I suspect I may have had some in college during my first episode.

I don’t know too much detail about this, but googling might help you find ways to work on them. Also, mention to psychiatrist and/or therapist if you haven’t already.

Edit: false memories can be mixed in with true events, like you said.

No problem. Feel free to share anything you learn. I guess it’s a type of delusion? Unsure.
