Dad still remembers what it was like to be poor

he was talking about what it was like not knowing how he was going to have money for home repairs and car problems when he was young.

im the last of 4 children and mom didn’t start working until I was in school.

he started out as a janitor after he got my mom pregnant with their first child. had to drop out of college and start working to pay the bills. then he eventually became a union industrial mechanic and started to make a little better money. he was promoted to a maintenance supervisor for his last 15 of 40 years at the same company and really started to rake it in. now he’s doing pretty good and lives comfortably and travels a few times a year. he says he has enough money for him and mom to live until they’re 96. now 66.

he still has sympathy for the working poor because of his experiences when he was young. but he did good. im proud of him. and he still stays busy even though he’s retired.

My husband and I were very poor when our son was little. We were on welfare and food stamps. It was very hard.

What ever happened to your ex husband Gina? What’s he doing now?

@Andrey, He’s retired and in all likelihood living it up with some beautiful, rich old lady in the resort town of Lake Havasu, AZ. He’s rich himself now.

i dont remember much of anything…that’s not cool

Sounds like a stand-up guy. I’m sure he tells you all kind of interesting stuff. My dad grew up during the Great Depression in the 1930’s. He had many stories from that time, some good and some bad.
