Cymbalta and/or

Does anyone have experience taking Cymbalta and a AP at the same time? Or just Cymbalta at once?

I took Cymbalta for a short time several years ago. I was suicidal and it actually made me more agitated and suicidal. I had to go to the hospital. I am sza bipolar type and don’t handle ADs well though.

I’ve never taken it, it might be worth a try though & it seems to work with Abilify.
Personally, the best drug for me in general regarding depression, anxiety, social & AP augmentation has by far been Trintellix/Brintellix (Vortioxetine). Have you tried? I’d recommend it, but it hurts quite a bit in the wallet.

I get all my mental meds for free here in Canada since I’m under 25. At least in my province. I don’t pay anything for my abilify, Paxil and Ativan.

Cymbal was a huuuuge no for me. It made me worse. I was on an AP. Can’t remember which.

I eventually had ECT to help the depression part of sza.

I haven’t done well on any anti depressants

I’m on effexor xr, but it’s mainly for anxiety.

How are you feeling Anxiety wise on it?

I’ve been on Cymbalta 60 mg since August, and it has helped some with depression, though I still need two antidepressants (I also take Wellbutrin XL 300 mg). The Cymbalta has also helped some with my chronic back pain, an unexpected benefit.

I’m also on two AP’s. I receive Abilify 400 mg injections every three weeks and take Haldol tablets, 5 mg twice a day, and a mood stabilizer (Lamictal 200 mg/day). I have schizoaffective bipolar-type, and it takes a lot to medicate me successfully.

@TheCanuk

I take 3 other meds for anxiety. Benzos work best, but I refuse them. I’m too afraid of addiction.

I took it and it worked well for my depression and pain. The bad part is it turns out I’m allergic. Get a rash all over and look like a lobster head to toe. Sucks because I felt great on it.

I’m on cymbalta and an AP too. Haven’t noticed much in the way of problems mixing them, but I’ve also not seen much benefit from adding the cymbalta anyway

@zenmind - how long have you been on the Cymbalta for?

Cymbalta is the best AD for me. I always have taken APs with it. All other ADs destabilize me. Cymbalta is pretty weak IMO. I prefer in theory wellbutrin or effexor but never tried effexor, unfortunately.
