There is no working knowledge of the mentally ill in prison
they use force on them to correct a behavior.
Long overdue.

I think there are more mentally ill people in jails and prisons in the US than in hospitals. It’s a sad situation when people need help and all they get is punishment.

We keep this population we also in
in deep poverty, with little opportunity.
The only good thing, is some agencies
will offer ways for felons to get back on their feet
after prison.

I’ve heard we lock up more people than any other country in the world. I guess there will always be room for improvement.

I don’t know a lot about it. I tend to stay away from politics, but I’m against releasing criminals and I’m against criminals going to the mental hospital. Somethings are just absurd though.
I think the legislation was aimed at reducing sentences for non violent offenders. I.e. mandatory minimum sentences…
A move in the right direction if you ask me
