Cost of medication in the usa

How much does a month supply of an antipsychotics cost in the united ststes without insurance. I have a plan of buying ulotaront when it comes to the usa but i live in canada. So my plan is to drive to the usa see a psychistrist get a 3 month prescription for ulotaront and buy that drug there. I heard drugs in america cost like 1k+

I think it depends a great deal on which antipsychotic you mean. The invega shot I think costs over $2000. While generic abilify(aripiprazole) pills would probably be considerably less. I can’t quote specific prices though since I have always used insurance of some kind to pay for or partially pay for ap’s.

I’m sure that you can find prices for different pharmacies listed on the internet if you type in the specific drug type.

Yeah i just googled them. There all in the qk range and my canadian insurance coverage wont cover drugs when buying from america. Buying ulotaront could cost me like 2k a month canadian. Sucks

Wow thats expensive

The invega pills cost $799

My meds cost 17$ each month … I get them from walmart

You guys got drug coverage though right. Without drug coverage it says thefe 1k+

Personally, my knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug trade in the U.S. is very limited. I’ve heard that a lot of senior citizens go to Canada or Mexico to buy their drugs. From my own perspective, they seem to be cutting me some slack. They have a lot of deals on their drugs that make them available to guys like me. I’ve heard that the cost of drugs mostly comes from their development, not their production. Once the drug companies recoup their developmental costs they have to allow other drug companies to sell the same drugs at whatever price they can maintain in the market. Yay free enterprise! I don’t know enough about the pharmaceutical drug trade. I sometimes wonder how much the drug companies are gouging and exploiting, if that is what is going on. I mean, some company tried to sell one of their drugs for $750 a pill. That’s a pretty good indication that they are gouging.

Yeah I’ve known about it for years when I was hoping to go off SSI and live a normal life. I don’t care about that now but just in case it hits my family again it will become a concern again.

My meds cost me 30 US dollars a mouth. And that’s a fix price in my country that means that it doesn’t matter weather I get original or generic as we have public health care. I just prefere meds from decades ago as these have proven their worth to me.

My generic Abilify is around $850 a month. Luckily my insurance covers all of it

Caplyta , a newer drug, sells for about $1320 a month with a free Goodrx card. The prices vary hugely between drug stores. You should expect that. And it will vary by dose.
