Look ma (and everyone else) I made it. I pay $7 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks, but it’s worth it because they write my name on the cup so it makes me feel special.
I know I’m better than you. Just look at my Richard Mille watch (a piece of garbage that sells for about $1M), or my Mercedes G Wagon (a box with tires that sells for $300K), or my Supreme T-shirt (a T-shirt that sells for $1K).
I definitely don’t participate in conspicuous consumption, I’m lucky to be able to afford food to eat! I can’t imagine what it would be like to buy something just cuz it’s a more expensive something than what your neighbor bought…i literally cannot imagine this as reality.
I have never understood buying something to make yourself feel good or someone else feel bad. I only want things if they are useful or have special meaning to me.
