Coming off Loxapine

My Pdoc okayed me to start lowering my Loxapine dose. I’m so scared because I’ve tried going off Loxapine 4 times in the past 4 years that I’ve been on it. Every time I lowered it myself without my pdoc’s approval. All 4 of those attempts I ended up in the hospital getting put right back on Loxapine.

But this time I hope will be different, I’m currently on 50mg at night only. We are trying to lower my dose by 5mg every two weeks. But honestly I might go four weeks at each dosage. I want to go super slow to hopefully be more successful this time.

My Loxapine is what caused my TD. Maybe if I come off it my TD will go away and I won’t have a need for Ingrezza!

I have a friend who had TD with Latuda…switching off of it and onto Vraylar helped the TD go away. Maybe you could ask your pdoc if you can take another AP instead of loxapine. Good luck coming off of it, just monitor your symptoms closely and let your pdoc know right away if anything changes.

Yes I also take Geodon which is another AP. Hoping to come off Loxapine and just stay on Geodon
