Codeine - minimal effect

I’m trying to work out why 30mg codeine last night and 60 mgs tonight has provided minimal pain relief .

  1. I’ve been given a placebo?
  2. Dose is low?
  3. Codeine resistant pan?
  4. I’m not taking it properly?

If any of you have used codeine for pain relief I’d welcome your feedback.

I used codeine after surgery. Dr wanted to prescribe morphine but I told him I wanted something less addictive so he prescribed codeine. It worked great for pain but it also made me euphoric, artificially too happy, I was dancing to music all night alone, couldnt sleep lol

Makes me bounce off the walls, too. Maybe it’s a SZ/SZA thing – no one believed me when I told them it didn’t knock me out.

It isn’t a very strong pain reliever. I had it after my brain surgery and it took the edge off, but I was still in pretty severe pain.

Be wary when combining them with antipsychotics, as it can cause depressed breathing. Did your prescribing doctor know and check for interactions?

When I had a kidney stone they gave me morphine for pain but it didn’t work at all, after one dose I refused any more because I didn’t want to become addicted. I just lived with the pain. They gave me drug called Flomax that helped me pass the stone but it took a few days. Every day I had to pee into a filter so i could collect the stone for analysis.

One would think, but my doc frequently tries to put me on a med that interacts with my other meds and I have to remind them.

. In Denmark there is a OCT combination pill of codeine 30 mg, aspirine and magnesium. I used it most to lift my mood a bit.

The magnesia should give the codeine a bit of a kick and prevent constipation.

If it comes to pain in the body, backpain and so on, i think that NSAID drug like ibuprofene is better than codeine
