Hey is anybody here on clozapine? Ok so pleased with this drug where initially I was worried about all of f the side effects!

I have been on clozapine for 8 years. I still take it to this day. I function best on clozapine. I have been on other meds, but clozapine Works best for my symptoms.

I’m not on clozapine but I want to talk to my doctor about alternate medications. Clozapine is on my list. Glad it’s worked out for you!

I took it but felt like my voices were teasing me on it. I also ended up being non-compliant after I read about the side effects, whether they were going to happen to me or not. I’ve been forced on a few different depots ever since I was non-compliant.

I’ve been on Clozapine for 3 or 4 years now and it has worked well for me, better than any other. I have to get blood drawn once a month though.
How long did it take Clozaril to work for you? I’ve been taking it for three weeks and am on 125 mgs now with a goal of 300 mgs. I can’t tell if it’s working or not .
I’ve been on Clozaril for 18 years and I do not like the side effects. I sleep everynight for 12 to 14 hours and then when I’m up for a few hours I need a 2 hour nap to function. It makes me umotivated… Slothful. Uninterested in things. I have drool at night so bad I need a towel to keep me from soaking my pillow with drool. I also have RLS from taking the Clozaril. RLS is Restless Leg Syndrome. My PDoc just recently found out through a Neurologist that Clozaril can cause RLS in some people. I lucked out because its rare. So I take another med to take care of the RLS. Of course there are the blood tests… which can be a lil annoying… Because Sometimes I get the bloodwork done but it doesnt get called into the Pharmacy on time… And so It interupts my ability to pick up a new prescription of it. It’s hard to plan it just right you never know when the blood work is called over or Faxed whatever the case may be. It takes 2 weeks of taking 100mg a day untill It actually begins to effect me. It doesnt get rid of the voices / nightmares and occasional delusional thinking but it does make them more managable. I can live my life without distractions and can easily ignore voices while on Clozaril. So far out of the 12 diff anti psych meds I’ve taken Clozaril works the best for me. I told my PDoc that I was open to trying new meds and she gave me a list of 4 new meds for me to try. I said sign me up! So I’m now being started on Rexulti. Wish me luck, good fortune and stuff.

My sister has been on Clozaril for almost 40 years. She has at least 26 different side effects from it including seizures (takes anti-seizure meds and has a VNS battery to control them), pinpoint pupils, major drooling at night, lips have involuntary muscle movements, which are probably permanent, bone loss, major weight gain (65lbs), extreme constipation, high blood pressure, urinary incontinence, tremors, and many others. There are over 100 known side effects from Clozaril. Clozaril is considered a “med of last resort”. It effects 5 different neurotransmitters. Blood work must be submitted monthly. “No blood, no meds.” If you have a heart condition, check with your dr or pharmacist. Clozaril is not legal in all countries.

My son has been on it for about 2 years
It caused the ANC to go down so they added lithium because lithium is thought to increase the WBC!
Lithium caused him so many issues,his body can not handle it so they had to put him on a low dose but still messing him up:( we can’t stop it though because it’s treating the Clozapine!
When he was on 150-175 mg dose clozapine divided 2 times he was doing ok but then when they continued raising it the WBC started to go down,then when the lithium was added
Now he’s on 300 mg clozapine
450 lithium ER
And 50 mg Fluvoxamine
Now fluvoxamine was added because it doubles the serum levels of the Clozapine so now with that fluvoxamine he’s like taking I would say 600 or more clozapine
Not a good combination at all its causing him sp many issues and voices never stop
