Childhood sayings

Just was thinking of some childhood sayings and thought it might be interesting to hear some you were told.

“If at first you don’t succeed, try try again”

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”

Stuff like that.

Any of these little sayings that you remember being told or hearing as a child?

My old grandpa said donkeys years ago. Respect your elders - but if they are rude, give them hell - they have had years to learn to be a bstard. And they will play on it.

My Dad said these quite often:
“If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all”
“Getting bored is for boring people” (to combat the endless “I’m booooored” kids often do)
“If you keep making that face the wind will change and you’ll be stuck like that” (usually said during kids make stupid/ugly faces XD)
