Chantix for nicotine

I got my Chantix in the mail the other day.

Afraid to take it.

Anyone have experience with this med?

It’s supposed to help you stop smoking.

I’m pretty sure I’ve already told you,

But when I got pregnant my husband got Chantix to stop smoking.

He never smoked in doors, of course, but still, we needed him to quit.

He did quit, but he also became a raging, angry monster.

Completely altered his personality.

I told him to just quit the Chantix and keep smoking.

But it’s a mixed bag.

That’s just his experience.

A lot of people didn’t go crazy and ended up not smoking.

I’d tell the people I live with that I’m taking it and to let you know if they notice negative changes.

Go from there.

Okay. Thanks. I asked for it over a year ago. My doctor finally gave me some. She seemed reluctant and worried.

I have seen commercials saying it can make you suicidal.

My shrink said I might need less of my APs on it also.

My friend was a smoker. He took that chantix medication and ended up in hospital because it affected him mentally. Ps he already has sz. However, he hasn’t smoked since then, many years.

Like @Charles_Foster said everyone has their own experience and that was his.

It was amazing for me. Not for everyone but so easy I didn’t finish the course. Besides a bit of an upset stomach I had no issues. I tried everything to quit to no avail and was amazed at how easy it was.

Don’t do chantix or Zyban if you want to quit smoking because you can get very angry and hyper if you do so. Instead you should use nicotine replacement therapy like gumm or spray. You could shift to vaping instead of smoking as that’s considered a less harmful habit than smoking.

My pulmonologist says vaping is worse than smoking. I have tried patches and gum.

I won’t recomment any pills that can make you agitated or hyper because I was like that the 20 years of my life when I was on Ziprasidon. I must say that it was the most unpleasant period of my life.

I have been taking Ziprasidone for years. You mean Geodon right?

Not everyone gets angry and I said it worked really well for me and others. It’s proven tech but can mess up some people on meds.

Exactly. The statistic says that 12,5 % go manic on that. I was one of the unfortunate ones. Finally I got rid of it 7 month ago. It was the worst cold turkey of my life. So probably It will help you.

Yeah so 87% don’t have the issue. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you but nicotine replacement didn’t work for me. Chantix did. It was easy. It’s proven tech and it’s way better than other methods. If you get manic stop it but it’s still worth giving it a go if you don’t have an issue with mania.

One mans salvation can become another mans poison.

Just because it didn’t work for you doesn’t mean it wont work for others. I said it didn’t work for everyone but coming on and saying don’t do it takes the opportunity away from others which could help them. All you have to say is you had problems on it.

I’m not going into a deeper dicussion about that. I was just asked about my opinions and that can be taken into account or ignored because I’m not trying to take anyones freedom of choice away from them
