CBT questions!

Hey all! Just got back from the gym and PHEW does that help with irritability! Sheesh I’ve been like a poked at bull all this week and now I’m on an exercise high :slight_smile:

Anyways I mentioned previously I was writing a paper for one of my classes that aims to either create a version of CBT tailored to those with psychotic disorders (as currently it is most effective with anciety/depression disorders). I have a couple more easy questions for those of you who have had CBT!

  1. What aspects of CBT did you find most helpful?

  2. What aspects of CBT did you find totally unhelpful?

  3. If you could make any change to the way your therapist worked on CBT with you, what would it be?

And for anyone who has experienced different kinds of therapies as well as CBT, were there any useful elements of them you would like to see merged into mainstream therapy for psychotic disorders?

Your input is highly appreciated! I want to make this paper at least half-decent :wink:

CBT was not a life changing experience for me.
Medications did more for me than CBT ever did - But, everyone is different.

I can’t remember my CBT or schema therapy, my memory is real bad I forget things all the time.

I do however have all of my notes from CBT so I can use them to prompt me!

i had cbt a couple weeks after i decided to stop taking meds. what i found was everything i was being taught i was already doing on my own, like techniques ‘when i hear voices what do i do’ etc…i already broke down the steps i needed to do.
i think after you learn new techniques you need to find a way that suits you to remember it all instead of needing to go back and reread what you learnt.
think the only thing that kind of peaked my interest from cbt was mindfulness.
