Capitalism and poverty

Food for thought

Capitalism has allowed a large number of people to be lifted out of extreme poverty.

Capitalism isn’t perfect, a few people hold a lot of the wealth. But it is still far better than anything else that has been devised so far.

I agree that capitalism can be beneficial, as trickle down economics helps a lot of people.

The problem I have with it, is when it becomes inter-woven with politics and the two bring out the worst in each other. Corruption, power mongering and greed

The stock market also plays a big role, creating unrealistic values for things that really aren’t worth what it is being presented as. When not properly regulated, it causes the bubble and crash effect

The system needs a reality check

With all this technology and science
we should be able to feed all people,
to make people’s lives better etc.
But no, capitapism is unfair and cruel

I’m an enemy of capitalism.
I believe in socialism, and communism and
anarcho communism.
No state, since there will be no classes and no struggle,
no wars, no unemployment, no injustice,
no rich no poor etc

Personally I’m a democratic socialist. I’m not necessarily against everything to do with capitalism, but capitalism as it stands today is corrupted. A very few hold all the wealth, and trickle down economics isn’t happening as it should. More and more people are entering poverty, and there is bugger all support for you once you’re down there. Initially when capitalism started it was fairly good. Improved people’s lives, but now it is controlled by the wealthy few and is corrupted.

I also disagree with some things being run by capitalism. Healthcare and education for example, should never be run for profit. There is something sour about your life being worth saved only if you earn enough. If you do, you’re condemned to death.

I’d rather have communism any day than capitalism

I’m more of a social-democrat and a transhumanist. I’m afraid - or maybe just relieved - that technology will always be ahead of politics.

You mean Soviet Union style or something else?
