Can't go out by myself

My mom doesn’t trust me to go out by myself because I’m physically disabled, and does not let me take a taxi because she believes that the taxi driver will kidnap me.

How do I convince her otherwise? I asked her to drive me so that I could hang out with my friends but she declined saying that it’s too tiring for her. I want to do things independently.

I feel like she’s more paranoid than I am. I feel trapped.

what about uber rides? would that be the same as taxi for her? I’m sorry you’re suffering.

Do you have to go long distances? Here they sell scooters for people who struggle to walk. They have a good speed and can go quite a distance.

The thing is, it would be so convenient for me to take a taxi, which will drop me off at a designated place. She’s not letting me do that.

Also @jukebox no uber rides here- just taxis.

well I’m really sorry…do you and your mom not have a car that you could drive with your disability? like a custom arranged car with things to help you drive?

I can still walk, just on crutches. I can’t walk long distances and I have rarely seen those cars here, unfortunately. I hope to walk as long as I can.

I think the state might help you fix your car so you could drive it…

I have to be employed or I can’t get any benefits- so I think I need to freelance again.

That doesn’t make sense. Plenty of disabled people can’t work and get benefits.

I mean like to get wheelchairs fixed or to have an autobox installed to your car.

You can still get benefits, just not allowed to get this kind of benefit I’m talking about.

Thanks for clarifying.
