Can you help please?

I’m having issues with my pdoc. She left me on trileptal when I had severe side effects, suggested ECT even though I had memory issues last time, and she decreased my risperdal by one third and I called her this week. She never got back to me.

The city I live in only has very few providers for psychiatry on Medicare.

Do I sound delusional or paranoid?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don’t sound delusional or paranoid. If you haven’t already laid out your complaints with your pdoc, I would do that first. Forcefully. If she still won’t cooperate I don’t see what choice you have but to look for someone else. I know this answer is kind of a no brainer but I don’t see what other choices you have if she isn’t providing you with the care you want.

Yeah. As above. Look for another provider possibly, because this one is not listening to you it seems and you don’t sound delusion at all either

Thanks, hon. I think I’ll talk to the office manager tomorrow.

Stay away from ECT :horse::horse::horse:

I think I know what to do… check with Medicare and get a list of participating providers.

Last time I did this, no Medicare providers had any availability.

I hear you, @GrayBear. Thanks for the suggestion.

Let’s hope things have changed. It might well have done so, because with the covid situation, a lot of providers are seeing increasing demand! (From an economics perspective)

All the best!

It’s hard to say. Those are pretty grievous offenses she made. One way to look at it is that everybody makes mistakes and if you’ve seeing her a while and she is a good doctor most of the time and you get along with her most of the time maybe stay with her but confront her about her decisions and share your worries about those issues and tell her how serious you take them.

If you’ve only been seeing her for a short time and she has made other serious errors of judgement and you don’t like her than still confront her but look into getting one of those other doctors.

It depends on how much you can overlook. If you can live knowing she made medical decisions that could temporarily or even permanently affect you in a bad way but otherwise she’s a good doctor then keep seeing her.

Doctors make mistakes. We don’t expect them too and we don’t like them too but it’s a fact. Doctors in general are responsible for 250,000 deaths a year in the U.S. alone.

You just have to look at your doctor objectively and see their history. It might not be possible or practical to see the records about them but if other patients are complaining too then maybe it’s time to change doctors.

That’s a very kind thing to say. Thank you.

I used to see her as my GP before she specialized. She was good to me until lately.

When you have Medicare or Medicaid you don’t always get the best care. My PCP (GP) ain’t the greatest either.

I value your opinion. Thanks for the considerable effort.

She doesn"t sound responsible
suggesting your symptoms may call for an ect or a change in your Risperdal. I’ve had a reaction to trilyptal a bad rash that’s is very painful. Should be the first thing she should look to. Did you say she went away with the
.half-baked measures?

I hope you can find someone else. She doesn’t seem qualified.

Thanks, pob.

When I do my telehealth appointments, she interrupts.

Of course this may be delusional or paranoid thoughts.

Given the above descriptions of her coupled with this statement of interrupting you. It does sound like she’s the problem to be honest.

Your posts don’t suggest delusional thinking to me

Thanks, @anon1466656 .

I’ve been psychotic in the hospital. I thought that the nurses were trying to give me placebos and thought the techs were in my home.

That’s why I’m being extra careful. My SMOM would cry when I called from the hospital. Since then, I take my time developing those negative feelings.

Yeah, it does seem like you are being sensible with your thoughts.

I understand your situation because I can be the same. It happens

In this case though. Your care is not being prioritised properly by the looks of things, rest assured it’s not a case of delusion. We all deserve good healthcare

Find a Pdoc who will listen to you.

I got terrible side effects from Rispiridone. I told my Doc I’m simply not taking it anymore. I’ve been on Abilify injections ever since, which seems to be working out for the most part.

You have to really be an advocate for yourself in the medical field. Doctors and nurses become inured to patient’s complaints. The squeaky wheel really does get oiled in this industry.

Stand up for yourself until you are satisfied with the proper med regime.

Malika, I agree that we all deserve good health care. I usually stand up for myself.

Thanks for the what to dos. This is the closest I’ve come to giving up. I mean, I HEAR about negative relationships with pdocs, but, for me, this is my first.

Both of you, thanks!
