Can you have bizzare delusions with bipolar

Do you get bizzare delusions like talking to dead people or thinking you’re an alien or people can hear your thoughts.

Yes! I have a plethora of bizarre delusions. I don’t talk to dead people. I think I was them in past lives.

@anon80629714 , if you have bizarre delusions AND have hallucinations then you would probably be sza. Idk, you need to ask your pdoc about it.

I don’t really have bizarre delusions.
This is more indicative of schizophrenia or schizoaffective.

It’s not that uncommon to have bizarre delusions with bipolar disorder.

Paranoid delusions are common when someone is experiencing depression but grandiose delusions are common when one is experiencing mania.

That is not a bizarre delusion. It is not uncommon in “normal” people who are spiritual. I believe in past lives myself.

I did, I was given psychotic disorder - bipolar type as a diagnosis. A different dr xalled it schizophrenia though. So I’m guessing it’s not simple to categorise.

Although the beginning of a manic episode can be experienced by the patient as pleasant and is marked by elated mood, a severe manic state can be very unpleasant for the patient and can involve bizarre delusions, frenzied activity, and disorganized cognition.

I had grandiose delusions in that I thought the dead person who recently died wasn’t actually dead but I was gonna marry him he somehow knew me and as we went to a Disney resort the same day he knew me and came to find me.

On top of that I wanted to donate my one of a kind brain as I thought I was gonna be queen of some country

i never had delusions but

in my case on the onset of illness i was very violent person, very hot tempered, very angry, suspecting and all that,

slowly over time and after taking meds these symptomes vanished.

all negative now, the prominent being feeling like stoned or mind blown away and alternatively not able to think properly and take life’s progressive decisions.

just rotting in the present state for years.

sucks but what …

Thank you Albert! I did not know that. I guess my mental illness flares up when I want credit and acknowledgment of having been these people in past lives.

yea bipolar can come with psychosis and then delusions also could happen of course… i was first diagnosed with bipolar but they removed that diagnosis when i was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and then later schizofrenia was added to the diagnosis list.
