Humility is basically the same as being humble. I think it can be a good or a bad thing. If you are humble to the extreme, you can feel you have no self worth.
I feel that I am reasonably humble though. I am aware that I am just one among billions of people and I am only so important. Take that a step further and you are just a speck in comparison with the galaxy. And even less in comparison with the universe. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your importance because you see things from your limited perspective/point of view, but the truth is that most everyone is not that important when compared with the big picture.
Billions of people would survive without me. A huge galaxy would exist without me. And so would a vast universe. I affect them very little.
Why would anyone make another feel like that? it’s ego and superego. Humility is not normal, nor does it serve anyone. Being a doormat opens the door to abusers. Don’t need a saviour either.
Selfishness beats out altruism in evolution. But you know I’d rather be humble than cocky if those are the two extremes. You can be humble and defensive. But cocky/conceited/vain to me are antonyms Of humble. Mostly considered bad things.
