Can anti-histamines make a difference when going off olanzapine?

From what I’ve read olanzapine by far is the AP that blocks most H1 Histamine receptors.

I just wonder if it leaves a vacum when you quit taking it and if taking antihistamines can somehow be beneficial. I’m going to try out taking natural antihistamines like quercetin and bromelain. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I tried taking quercetin and broke out in hives. Now I take regular OTC allergy meds, not the homeopathic ones

I did not need it when I stopped olanzapine.

Not sure, I was really itchy (especially scalp) when I stopped quetiapine ( olanzapine is in the same drug type as quetiapine)

Yeah, I had a similar theory when I quit Olanzapine

Benadryl worked for a few days helping me sleep then I developed a tolerance.

Doxylamine succinate (Unisom) worked better but I didn’t sleep long enough

I tried promethazine and that was useless.

I tried a bunch of other non antihistamine prescription meds and also supplements, all useless.

The only thing that give me a decent 7+ hours sleep is 1.5mg of clonazepam about 1/2 hour before bed. I’ve been on it for over a year now.

I’ve been off Olanzapine for about a year and a half. In the beginning I couldn’t fall to sleep at all even after days of being up, unless I took meds. I can now fall asleep without meds but I only sleep 2-3 hours then I wake up.

Ultimately I concluded it’s best not to take any more meds that effect histamine and just give my brains histamine system time to reset itself back to normal. I am able to sleep a bit now without meds so there has been some improvement. I’m hoping my brain fully recovers over the next year.
