I go out to feed the pig every 2 hours. For the past 2 days every time I go out there she’s sleeping. Do pigs get depressed?
Don’t know about pigs but yes cats can get depressed. My cat that died twenty years ago got depressed. We went on holiday for two nights and left her in the house with water and dried food . When we got back she lay outside the kitchen not moving and her for was greasy so we never left her alone again
I saw a cow crying in a slaughter house
On YouTube
Awwwww!!! How sad!! And I eat meat.
Doggos can. My dog got depressed after my first pup passed away from renal failure.
Pigs are supposedly more intelligent than Dogs. As a mammal they are social beings. Does your pig have company?
Also is it a pet or are you rearing it for food?
No she’s alone in a pin. As soon as deer season is over my dad is going to let her out. We have to keep her pinned in cos if we don’t she’ll eat the corn that’s meant for the deer.
I think so it’s less common since animals aren’t really thinkers and the human mind is more complex but I think they can
Isn’t it weird to think that we’ll never know what a cow feels or thinks
Factory farming is also terrible. Terrible lives met by a gruesome death. I’m all for paying more money for more ethical meat. It’s unbelievable the amount of suffering some of these animals go through.
I remember reading about a male gorilla. He was so depressed he threw his newborn son at a crowd of zoo visitors (either at the glass or bars…I don’t remember the details). The baby gorilla died. I think animals feel bad when they know they’re someone’s prisoner.
I could tell that Aristaeus was depressed when I picked him up from the pet store where he was on display for adoption. He was not grooming himself properly and he had a funky smell. He was back to grooming himself well within a week of coming into our home and was cleaner and less stinky. He purrs more readily and is much more expressive.
Yes they can but for two days I’d be wondering first if they are physically ill
I think mammals can get depressed under certain conditions. Have you ever seen the fin on an orca compared to one in captivity? The fin is flopping over always on the ones in captivity.
