I want to be able to I miss being normal feeling normal
Some can, a lot can’t.
I can’t, every time I have lowered my meds too much, gone off them completely or switched to one that didn’t work I became psychotic. This has been my experience for the last 17 years. I am on meds for life, I’ve learned to be fine with that.
I don’t feel completely normal on meds, but I do feel a lot better than when I am off them and psychotic.
Like Headspark said, a lot cannot. I would say that most cannot. Not without positive symptoms anyway.
I once had a doctor tell me you can try medication holidays. I was just hearing things a lot on 3mg of invega though. I usually think someone planted a speaker in my stomach and it is talking to me.
How many episodes have you had, more then just on and how long have you been off of antipsychotics? Thanks, looking for some hope
If they find a genetic basis for schizophrenia then the possibility for gene therapy exists, that could eliminate the need for medication.
Episodes? I haven’t been hospitalized in years. Like 2014 thereabouts.
I get flareups, but that is dependent on diet.
Gluten avoidance and my supplements keep me ok. Soda avoidance is good too.
Energy drinks murder my frame.
@naturallycured some people can’t do that
Yeah, psychotic episode where you lose insight? I’ve had two.
@Luke83 os that really what it is? I never heard that. I just thought it meant you were split from reality
My brain injury that manifested SZ was super bad, at least pain-wise. I pulled out but it took years and lots of supplementary tinkering.
But have you ever lost insight, and been completely lost in your delusions? I’m hoping to be medication free my self in future.
Yes, had a prodromal phase. Kept losing my grip day by day.
I used to talk my well ex gf every day. But she was never there. I actually still see her a lot which is very depressing for me. And I still get delusions but I can understand their not real a lot faster now @Luke83
What supplements do you take and how do they help you
You can live without the meds for a week or two, then your limbic channel gets overloaded with dopamine and you will get psychotic.
Really ? I didnt know that
Tell me what do you know >:)
I think Abilify stays in the blood stream for three days. I started feeling squirrely after the 2nd day though, when I cut my meds in half to store the other half, because I thought the pharmacy wouldn’t get my med in stock in time for the next repeat. The voices got louder.
you brought this thread back.
alright. it’s a question we all want to know,
but just ask your doctor if you’re there yet.
