just thinking about my 20’s. I think I was undiagnosed schizophrenic from age 20-26. when I was 20 I had terrible social anxiety, disorganized thoughts, paranoia, and lots of negatives that prevented me from getting anywhere in life. I did briefly hallucinate when I was 20, but only for a week, and I was smoking lots of weed back then. then at 26 I was diagnosed and started hearing voices all day long.
so my question, can a prodromal phase last as long as 6 years?
pretty sure my prodromal phase lasted about 6 years, same exact age frame as yours (well, maybe from age 19-25). But yeah, I had similar symptoms as you, too.
I think it can last for so many years.
In my case, I had negatives and mild hallucinations many years before schizophrenia.
I was diagnosed at age 27. Since I was 20 I had some mild symptoms
Yeah for sure. I’m curious if I wasn’t smoking pot if I’d have gone into onset but I guess it would have anyways with stress. I slowly slid into psychosis without smoking much weed in the end it’d just fock me up so yes. I look back and I was always different. I had a thought that commented on everything I did and remember ocd behavior in first grade of primary school.
The trouble with sz is that it’s there. Not much you can do to escape it and I think it’s just one of those things that will happen if your in the danger area.
