Thinking about changing my cat’s diet over from Fancy Feast wet food to Proplan wet food.
The Vet I spoke with recommended Proplan for my cat.
Which is the healthier choice?

My cat Nico eats pro plan uti cat food. But it’s dry food. He had a bad UTI some years ago. He hasn’t had a UTI since.

Just, good luck convincing him to eat most other brands. Fancy feast is like McDonald’s for cats I was told. Not so healthy. But they like it a lot.

You need to make sure the food is grain free. I found a lot of pet food has grains in it and it used to make my cat sick.

My Charles is really happy with Meowmix dry food but if you can get the good stuff I would for sure get it especially if a vet recommended it.

I researched the different cat foods and Fancy Feast did pretty well.
It received a B- rating from Allaboutcats and Pro Plan received a C+ rating.
I think I’ll stick with the Fancy Feast for now.

Fancy feast. And we also give him tiki which is probably healthy and he seems to like more than fancy feast
He has a love affair with fancy feast. He refuses most others. But now he eats tiki one out of 3 meals a day

Ginger gets Fancy Feast seabass and shrimp wet food, Taste of the Wild River Canyon dry food, Sheba Irresistible tuna snack, and Fiji water (I’m serious).

We will sometimes give Charles and Tigger FF in those little portion containers. They seem to like those.
Fiji Water? That is kinda funny but maybe Ginger is picking up a taste from city or well water.

How many cans do you feed Don Juan a day @Jonnybegood?
I think I’m under feeding her, I don’t know.
I feed her a 3 ounce can of FF in the morning and a 3 ounce can in the evening and occasionally I’ll feed her 1/3 cup of dry food as a late night snack.
She is 1 year old and must weigh approximately 6 pounds.
She is very petite for her age.

Are you falling for the whole: I am always hungry routine?
If your kitty is always asking for food even after she just ate then that is usually a sign that they want attention.
Cats see being fed as a form of affection. That is part of why cats may bring their prey to your doorstep or leave it in your path as that is how they show they care.

Yeah she shows me lots of affection in the mornings first thing when she wants to eat.

@77nick77 according to that article FF has more protein and less fat than Pro Plan which makes it the healthier option.

Fancy Feast gets a bad wrap but it’s actually a pretty healthy choice.
It’s low carb high protein.
Cats shouldn’t consume too many carbs.
