Caffeine and nicotine

I have to stop drinking caffeine and nicotine sooner than later it’s messing with my meds.do you have issues with either or both?

Well I’m a coffee addict and would like to quit. I’m having sleep issues but I don’t know if the coffee and Cokes are interacting with my meds. I seem to be stable.

Coffee is probably part of it even worse the cokes.

Yeah. I’m also burning up money on the Coke machine and coffee isn’t cheap.

I try to stay away from stimulants because they can do some serious damage if consumed in large qualities.

My main stimulant is nicotine, however I’ve experimented with Wellbutrin, Caffeine, L Tyrosine, Ginseng, and Beta Alanine.

@roxanna Caffine is harmless but Nicotine interferes in a big way in the functioning of medicines. Though they don’t specify in the literature (except Olanzapine) but Nicotine and other harmful chemicals in Cigarettes makes the psychiatric drugs eliminate from the body before time. So the patient does not get the full efficacy of the drug.

its nice to know almost all schizos smoke because I can relate to it…not that its a good thing or maybe it is for schizos

@worstever This smoking habit is very dangerous for Schizos. One should not think that one can do it because all are doing it. Smoking weakens the hearts of Schizos which are already weakened by the drugs. These psychotropic drugs act on all the systems of the body and damage them. That is why the people say that Schizophrenics die earlier than normal people.

that is interesting information…but when you’re suffering you just reach out for cigs…its like your only friend much of the time…so I guess most of us will just have to take the risks on that one…

@worstever Yes the information is interesting because it is given to me by a Psychiatrist who worked in USA for two decades. He also said that, that is the reason why one should not go to high doses of drugs unless inevitable, and try and stick to low doses. These drugs are not completely safe and effect all the systems of the body, like Heart, Kidneys etc. Smoking only compounds the problem by inflicting it’s own damage. One should restrain one self and try to avoid smoking. Exercises like walking, going to gym, are good alternatives to smoking to uplift the mood of the person.
