Burning/tingling in limbs

I don’t know if this is related to sz, related to diabetes or none of the above, but I have a symptom reemerging that I had during the height of psychosis.

During psychosis I believed I was being poisoned and had the sensation of burning limbs. I also would get headaches in lower back of head.

These sensations have returned to a lesser degree recently. I no longer feel they are a result of poisoning, but the sensations are there, nonetheless.

I would think they are diabetes related, but these things are supposed to start in your feet and lower legs in diabetes, I think. Mine are primarily in arms, torso and upper neck/lower head area.

Is it possible that I’m having tactile hallucinations?

Idk. I’m not having delusions or anything as far as I know.

What are the symptoms?
Those who experience tactile hallucinations describe a variety of sensations. Common ones include:

A feeling of having skin stretched over the head.
Thinking snakes or bugs are crawling under the skin or on the body. This type of tactile hallucination is called formication.
The sensation of being kissed or having sex.
Feeling as if internal organs are moving.
Having itching or burning skin.

No one with any experience with tactile hallucinations and/or diabetes to weigh in?

Hey Bowens, I only know about diabetes. I know that neuropathy can effect any part of the body but it is mostly noticed in the feet and legs. You should probably call your Dr.and tell them what’s going on. I hope the burning and tingling go away.

can you ask a GP?

i have burning/discomfort in my nervous system. I thought that this was from going without alcohol but perhapse i was just self medicating due to it, or the gabbapentin wearing off in my system. got my refill of prn’s and it has stopped completely.

maybe try gabbapentin?

I had headaches similar to the ones you described @Bowens , along with very strong tactile hallucinations when I was unmedicated.

It’s to the point where I dunno if what I feel are true body sensations or hallucinations sometimes.

The tingling could possibly be related to diabetes— I’m not sure if it’s directly related to blood sugar numbers or not though.

I would probs let your doc know about the tingling, as that could totally be related to the diabetes— just to be on the safe side.

Wishing you well :+1:

When I was in my thirties I used to get a lot of that. I went through all the doctor’s hoops/test’s and finally ending up being told it might me MS and I needed to go get worked up by a neurologist. The neurologist said I absolutely did not have MS. Relief, but why was this going on? Brushed off as anxiety I would suffer for a few more years knowing the doctors were wrong and still seeking answers I finally contacted a holistic doctor in Oregon. By our conversation over the phone, he was able to tell right away what the problem was and since I could not afford his $300 office visit, he offered his services free of charge in exchange for one thing from me to tell everyone this valuable information. White is right. In terms of what you put in your mouth in the way of dental fittings, white is right. It turned out that all the metal fillings I had in my mouth were poisoning me and I needed to get them safely removed and go through mercury chelation therapy. So, I took out a loan with Care Credit, got my mouth fixed and the Doctor helped me with home chelation. The weirdness stopped. Fastforward 25 years and everyone gets white fillings and the ADA admits metal fillings are unsafe.

Funny you should mention MS, Leaf. My dad has MS.

Thanks to everyone for the responses.

It’s possible it could be a combination of things as well, IDK.
