Bruce Lee was a philosophy major but…

He was also into art and poetry. I found this about him:

Tarantino made him look like an ass in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, I wonder if there’s any truth to that portrayal.

Just googled it. Apparently his daughter objected to the portrayal. I didn’t even know this movie existed. Nor have I watched many Bruce Lee films either

I thought it was amusing how they described him in the text though

Once Upon a time in Hollywood was a great movie starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, simultaneously telling the story of an aging actor, a stuntman and interwoven with the story of Charles Manson and the Manson family.

Was it shot in California? I just saw Charles Manson was someone from Cali.

It was filmed in and around Los Angelas. I thought everybody knew who Charles Manson Was.

I thought the movie (Once Upon a time in Hollywood) was garbage. It’s boring and long without any point in it.

Bruce Lee was an exceptional martial artist and a very wise man. I think the portrayal of him in Tarantino’s movie is most likely based on a myth or urban legend. When someone once asked Bruce Lee why he chose such a violent path as martial arts he replied: “It’s better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.”

My understanding is the scene is a replay of a fued between bruce lee and stunt man gene lebel. Lebel was much better then bruce lee and supposedly picked him up carrying him around laughing.

They brought lebel in because bruce lee was constantly hurting stuntmen

Gebe lebel also fought in the first senctioned mma fight in America

The interaction is why lee started adding grappling technique to his martial arts practice even showing him submitting someone in a joint lock i forget which of his movies

Yeah, total garbage. Should never have been made.

Give me all the credits you want. I thought the movie was sh-it. It was long, boring and didn’t have a point. Even the acting was pretentious and dull. It wasn’t even historically accurate.

Well, you know what they say about opinions.
I liked it; you didn’t, that’s where it stands.

@77nick77 I saw the movie and although it was memorable I too thought that it was a shitty movie.
There was nothing holding the movie together and the acting was subpar.
Also felt that it was sensationally violent towards the end. (Dog attack scene)

It was a story about actors and Hollywood and the Manson Family. I agree with the critics that Brad Pitt did a great job in that role. You have your opinion, I have mine.

I loved Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The final fight was incredible, and incredibly well acted.

As far as Bruce Lee goes, he was a great philosopher and martial artist. I remember on a boxing forum there was a big debate between who would win, Ali versus Lee. It was mentioned in the movie but I don’t think Bruce Lee ever said he could beat Ali. He is wildly considered the grandfather of MMA, and was one of the first well known martial artists who believed in techniques from multiple martial arts creating his own style called Jeet Kune Do.

I don’t fear the man with 10 kicks. I fear the man that practiced a kick 10 times.

I saw the movie with my son at least several times. Tony, my son, was a really big Bruce Lee fan, as my son was a martial artist himself as well. And Quentin Tarantino was Tony’s favorite movie director too.
