Brain plasticity restored in adult mice through targeting specific nerve cell

#1

The study focused on a subtype of inhibitory cell also found in people called Parvalbumin neurons

You might recognize parvalbumin neurons as the type Dr. Lodge and his group used in the rodent stem cell therapy models of schizophrenia.

Unlike previous research that broadly manipulated brain plasticity using approaches that affected the entire brain, this study targets for the first time a specific molecule acting on a single type of neuronal connection to modulate brain function. This restores the brain’s ability to rewire itself.

My plans have been to use playing guitar/song creation to fuel change in myself. Also exploring art. Hey, time is short.
