Bought an Alcatel Phone

I paid $130.00 for the very basic phone and I’m paying $27.00 per month for the service. I get most of the bells and whistles with it although I only need phone and text.

Did I get a good deal?

Seems expensive to me (for the service). I pay something like £12 a month for 8GB of data and more minute than I can use (either 300 or 500).

That said it could be that in America the lack of choice in service providers makes the prices much higher for low tier options. Here in the UK there are quite a lot of carriers to choose from.

I reside in Canada.

I heard we pay some of the highest phone service fees on the planet.

My mistake.
Apparently thats £17. So not loads more. If you asked for more minutes than what I have then its probably not that bad a deal. I hardly ever call people so I got the lowest minutes with most internet deal they had.

My new running joke?

Whenever I’m around people and I answer my phone, I say “Yes Mr. Trudeau.”

He’s the Prime Minister of our country…already gotten a few giggles from others with this gag.

Whenever my brother’s phone rings he says, “THEY KEEP PULLING ME BACK!” lol!

I suppose it’s a reference to The Mob or something.

You could if you wanted download the discourse app and load this site onto it

If you setup your email on it too, you might be a convert to smart phones

It’s surprising what they can do now vs. just a decade ago. They’ve come far in usefulness

The camera is quite lousy on the phone, but I’m not much of a shutterbug so no big deal there.

Basically just needed text/ phone so I can reach my teenage daughters at any given time.

Hope the battery is good. Thats my biggest gripe with smart phones. Need constant top ups - makes day trips a drag if you can’t charge mid way.

The charge is quite good on this big Fisher/ Price Baby Phone I just bought.

Can you delete the text threads with friends, or does it just stay there in one long line forever?

You possibly can clear it somehow, but I don’t think most people actually do that. Just keep it forever.
What app are you using for the text threads?

@StarCrazy

No idea.

My carrier is Fido, though. I’m very new to all of this.

Well I guess its the default texting app maybe?
If so back out to the screen where you can choose which contact your chatting to and you should be able to delete the whole convo (it’ll only disappear on your phone).
But personally I CBA to do that anymore lol. I just let it fill up.

Okay.

I’m just used to starting fresh with a new conversation. No big deal if the old text convo shows up.

Press and hold (long press) the entire convo on the inbox screen.
