Binge eaters? Bi-Polar? INSIDE

I have problems with binge eating. Not only do I overeat, but I meet the the DSM criteria for Binge Eating Disorder.

I seem to binge when I get depressed, then go into recovery (and diet) when I change into a manic state.

Does anyone else have a similar problem?

YES!!! I actually feel like something in my mind switches when the stages change.

When I’m in a restriction stage, I can’t overeat or binge without purging. When I’m in a binging stage, I can’t restrict and even eating normally turns into a binge.

If you think you may have an eating disorder, it’s a good idea to talk to a doctor about it. Binging can be dangerous- for some people, their stomachs have stretched so much that the blood vessels supplying blood to their stomach have burst…

I’m recovering from Bulimia. It used to be really bad, but now I just do it every once in awhile.
I have found that when I’m unhappy about something specific and feeling helpless, and when I don’t speak up for myself, I binge eat. Then, I have to get rid of it. Sometimes I just binge, but that gives me tremendous anxiety, so it feels better if I purge.
For me then, it’s an unmet need. The more I speak up for myself and take action on my own behalf to “fix” something that’s bothering me, the less I’m going to binge (and purge).

Thanks for the replies.

I have been seeing a therapist for the last few months and addressing some of it. She said that my going to the gym twice a day was my purge.
