Any tips, esp @everhopeful?
I had catatonic episode
Here’s a post I made earlier
I was on 0.5mg a day, and got horrible withdrawals. The way I eventually came if it was by slowly increasing the amount of days between taking it.
At the beginning I would take it every other day for 2 weeks, then every 3 days for two weeks, etc.
Doing it slowly was the key.
Good luck coming off it.
Hope that helps.
I stopped taking Klonopin October 29th of last year. I just started taking it again March 26th. Without the Klonopin I wasn’t sleeping very well. Also after I started taking it again my mind was calm. I wasn’t aware that it wasn’t until I took some Klonopin. I’m afraid I’m going to have to be on it. I’m only taking 0.5mg at bedtime.
Titrate down slowly!! It can be dangerous so take a little less over the course of weeks. I wasn’t taking much xanax when I stopped suddenly and had a gran mal. These meds can lower your seizure threshold so do it ever so slowly!
Always under medical supervision is a no brainer!
I was on 30mg of Diazepam a day for about a year. I went against my doctor and dropped it down quickly. I reduced it to 10mg after two weeks, then slowly dropped it to nothing over a few more weeks.
Best thing I did. They were not effective anymore and I was annoyed my doctor at the time thought it best to pump me full of benzos…
Don’t feel defeated if you have to increase the dose temporarily.
I quit diazepam cold turkey after 6 months of 25mg. No withdraw.
I quit xanax after 3 months cold turkey 1mg. No withdraw.
I quit lorazepam after 2 months cold turkey 0.5mg. No withdraw
So I can’t help you, benzos don’t affect me
I was building a chart with a cheap app.
I built it, but then it was gone, I started at 4am and ended at 7 am now.
I have a window of wellness when I wake up. It really would have helped. I’ll ask my dad to sit down w/me today when we do the disability form and hopefully make a chart to fax them.
I made another one.
It took me like 2 hours.
Before risperidone I got horrible withdrawls coming off clonazepam. On 5mg risperidone, I could make larger cuts with zero withdrawls.
Hey, how is it going with the withdrawals?
I think the most important thing is indeed to take it slow, as slow as needed for you. And to know that whatever withdrawal issues you have now, they will pass. You have to bear the bad feelings and get through it. Keep up hope that one day it will be better.
Like @everhopeful said, to prevent withdrawal, the trick to benzos is to cycle them. But if you’ve been on them too long that could be a problem. A person I knew in the psych ward went up to 8mg before he was put on an AD and an AP.
Honestly, tapering helps tremendously but I believe cycling is the way to go.
I skip my doses to prevent tolerance. Some days I take them, some days I don’t. I’m on 1.5 daily.
Some days I take 1.5, some 1.0 and others 0.5. It all depends.
But to get on topic and dealing with actual withdrawal, your best bet is rest. Try to sleep more, and try to prevent your body from getting stress. Try to limit your dopamine intake which can aggravate withdrawals.
I think @everhopeful used L Theanine to wean off clonazepam, I’m not sure, correct me if I’m wrong.
I tried but it didn’t work. You’ve a good memory!
