I’m glad to say I am getting her spayed! I locked her in the bedroom with me so she can’t get to food, water, or hide under the couch and there’s a large space under the bed that I can go after her if need be… I was worried I wouldn’t be able to capture her in the morning but now I don’t have to worry at all and to make it better she walked in here on her own! Now just to go to bed and wait for morning
Good for her!!! We got our pup neutered in October. I’m glad it’s over and done with. What a relief! I hope your gal has a speedy and easy recovery.
@Happy_H same I’m worried about her she is getting up there in age
How old is she? I have worked with both dogs and cats in rescue for ages, and I’ve never lost one from altering, no matter their age. In fact, she could live longer because it decreases risk of certain cancers. I bet she’ll pull thfough just fine. And super bonus points to you for taking good care of your pet!!!
@Happy_H about 7 years old. Thank you
I have absolutely spayed animals older than this. We even had a blind gal with a heart murmur get spayed once with no issues. I was especially worried about that one. Oh, and a rescue made me spay a Saint in heat. I didn’t want to because of higher risk, but again, the dog pulled through with zero issues.
Bella be a good girl.
Bella is the world’s most popular female pet name
Thanks @Happy_H I feel a little better now.
@roxanna she is so far
@agent101g I didn’t know that but it makes sense
You are doing the right thing @Twialine
Her age is not a factor
Thanks @Wave I just worry and worrying has been worse lately
@Wave @agent101g @roxanna @Happy_H she made it through surgery just fine! I go pick her up soon! Thanks everyone… I’m nervous about getting her home and taking care of her… I’ve never done this without my mom… How do I take care of her???
I would follow the Vets direction
There’s not much that you can do
Your baby will need to wear a cone to keep from licking the incision. It’s not bad at all. Just follow your vet’s advice
@Wave okay
@LilyoftheValley the vet said since she hasn’t been licking it she doesn’t have to but if she starts we gotta put it on her… She’s resting under and blanket she half covered herself with
Awesome! Glad to hear it. Getting spayed increases life expectancy specifically I’ve heard.
Hope she feels better soon.
Me too @agent101g she’s my sweet little girl
I’m glad for you both that it’s over. For aftercare, just keep an eye on her. If you notice swelling, irritation, a fever, or anything else that might indicate an infection, contact the vet right away (or an emergency vet if yours is closed and can’t be contacted). We never dealt with an infection, but those are the main signs I can think of offhand. Good luck!!!
@Happy_H she’s hiding under the couch, I told them that’s her favorite place to hide and they said let her and that she’ll probably hide most of the day… I hope she forgives me… I’m so worried she won’t
Animals don’t hold grudges the way people would. Many people anthropomorphize their animals, but it’s comparing oranges to apples.
@Happy_H I hope you’re right I love her so.
