Being a good example

How many of you are “out of the closet” regarding sz/sza? I don’t broadcast it but I have posted various things about it on FB and my family and friends all know…
I think it’s important to be a good example. The stigma of MI won’t go away if all anybody ever hears about sz is when somebody has committed a crime or what hurtful stereotype pop-culture is using these days!

I’ve been told I have a low IQ

by talking a lot about sz on FB

don’t confuse illness with intelligence, idiot.

If I lived elsewhere - perhaps a more liberal country - I wouldn’t keep it a secret. But here mental illnesses are strongly frowned upon and I want to keep all my future work options open.

That is horrible!

whack job, psycho, messed up, schizoid, deranged, weirdo…

I can understand that though it sucks.

The bad cases get the most attention. It’s human nature to deal with problems before paying attention to non problems.

That’s true BUT if we never put out positive examples, then all they have are the negative ones. I hope when they hear the word “Schizophrenic” people I know will remember that ordinary people have schizophrenia too.

I know, it’s sad that all these mass shooters are getting slapped with the paranoid sz label and thus passing the buck onto ppl who try to behave and take their meds as their doctor tells them.

Well, that’s rubbish. You are obviously very intelligent.

well thanks, Pixel, I’d flip the coin on that though,

there’s a lot I don’t know about history, geography or science.

I like to keep up on issues though, and debate them
that was my first A in college.
