Beauty thread make up etc

I don’t wear much make up at all. Just like eyeliner eyeshadow tinted lip balm. My question here is what kind of cleanser and serum any of you use at night? I have a mask still.

I was tomboyish in my teens.

I don’t use a cleanser for my face.

I use facial wipes sometimes or a body wash.

Hi @roxanna

I use the Cetaphil hydrating foaming cleanser to wash my face— does a good job of getting rid of makeup and dirt without drying the skin.

Not using any serums at the moment (it’s hard finding a good one that doesn’t break the bank ).

Right now I’m using the Dr. Jart Ceramidin moisturizing balm and Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro Whip as my moisturizers, along with The Ordinary’s marula oil for when I’m really feeling like extra dry (or right after an exfoliating treatment).

Those are some good ones. I need to take better care of myself.

Hi @roxanna

I like Clinique products and use a variety of their moisturizers and their foaming cleanser is my favorite. My face breaks out if I use anything with scent. I also loved Osea’s facial moisturizer.

For a second I thought you meant cerave instead of cetaphil. Cerave is the goat for my skin. I think I’ve tried cetaphil and remember it being really good too.

It’s weird… They’re very different from common face washes but end up having the best results. Cheap face washes are usually too drying. I find cerave is more balanced.

CeraVe is nice stuff! I feel like CeraVe and Cetaphil are similar tier options— both are great for sure.

Haha true— I will say that sometimes the cheap stuff can be good too, but it’s a lot of weeding out all the bad products to find a good one, which ends up costing as much as just buying a more expensive option that you know works— that’s how they get ya  :money_with_wings:

Lol true yea I noticed brands are always advertising new formulas and such… Must be hard to navigate. To be honest most of the time I just use regular ass hand soap lmao

But yea my mom had issues with hair loss and I noticed she used to try a ton of different brands all the time to find a good one. For men there’s virtual 3 kinda of soap lol old spice, Irish spring and like dove

I do like dove men’s care tho

Haha, sometimes good ol’ hand soap is where it’s at!

But yea, it’s true— the formulas are always changing, and of course, companies always market to people’s insecurities like signs of aging, etc., so it’s always been an extremely profitable industry.

I think you bring up a good point about how women seem to be marketed to a lot more intensely than guys— I dunno why that is, but I do see a shift in this trend as cosmetic companies are becoming more gender-inclusive/gender-neutral all together.

Hair loss is awful stuff— been dealing with that myself for the past year. Hopefully it’s gotten better for your mom :+1:

Dove is good stuff, btw— their antibacterial body wash is like GOAT status in my book

This days I’m using only aloe vera soap when I shower.

I used to use daily soap + aha/bha (at night only) + hydrating cream + sunscreen (morning only).

You can really see the results with this in as little as one week.

I think it’s the basic skin care routine.

I use fragrance free neutragena wipes if I wear makeup. I use Clinique face lotion as needed if my skin gets dry.
