Be my doctor?

I already emailed my doctor and I’ll talk to her in the morning. I just need someone to talk this through with. So play doctor.

Okay, so I passed out and hit my head on Friday. I had a headache that got progressively worse until Saturday night when I went to the ER because nothing was helping and I couldn’t stop vomiting. They gave me ketamine for the pain, compazine for the nausea/vomiting, and did a CT scan that didn’t show anything unusual. Fast forward to today, the headache is still there and I’m still vomiting.

Is this worrying? Is this just a normal concussion and I just need to wait it out? Should I go get a second opinion? I don’t see my doctor until the 30th, but I can talk to her tomorrow because she’s also my kid’s doctor and she has an appointment in the morning.

Help? I’m starting to freak out a bit.

can’t offer much semi-professional advice but I believe in my heart you will be fine no matter what

What caused you to pass out??

I have neurocardiogenic syncope. I pass out kind of often.

I understand why you feel so nervous. Anyone would.

So how long will it be before you can see the doctor tomorrow? And are you still vomiting now? Has the headache ever gotten any better?

I don’t really see the doctor for me until the 30th, but my kid has an appointment with the same doctor in the morning. So I’m hoping since I’ll be there and I’ve already written her an email that she’ll tell me if it’s important to be seen ASAP or not.

Yes, still vomiting. Headache was the worst Saturday and has been mostly manageable since then.

I don’t know what you should do to be honest. But this is what I do think. You have a right to feel how you feel. You are not overreacting. It is the job of the medical professionals to not only treat you but make sure you know what is going on. They should have told you if the headache and vomiting would persist and what to do about it.

It is quite possible that there is nothing wrong and you end up feeling silly. But you have no way of knowing and how you feel now is absolutely not ridiculous. You feeling silly tomorrow is a lot better than the alternative. I would be just as upset as you are. So if you are really worried, I would suggest considering airing on the side of your health and being cautious with it. Whatever that means.

Thanks. I really wish I would have asked more questions in they ER, but they discharged me when I was still high af on ketamine so I didn’t really get the chance.

That isn’t your fault in the least. They didn’t do their job.

Ok so this is all speculation but here’s my low down… I had a tbi (concussion kinda basically a traumatic brain injury) it’s so messed up the brain when it gets injured bc I was so confused, like my face looked like u were asking me all the digits of pi for about 10 days after my injury. Do u have any confusion? Docs these days usually don’t care much about tbi’s And concussions unless there’s bleeding in the brain just so u know, I had to go to a specialist who finally explained that to me.

I’m terms of ur nausea I think that went away after 3-4 days usually the nausea is like literally RIGHT after ur injury and maybe the days that follow. Headaches are normal bc it’s supposed to be the brain healing.

Here’s what helps- sleep, absolutely no sunlight or blue light like ur taking in as u read my post. Also if ur balance is offf it’s bc these little things in ur ears are all out of sync so it helps to lay on ur bed with ur head hanging off the edge, while ur on ur back. Don’t worry, these are really minor non harmful suggestions I don’t want anyone posting about how I’m obviously not a doctor or something saying this is dangerous. Take my advice with caution blah blah blah but yea In a week you should be fine if these symptoms are because of a concussion… if not have u changed ur meds recently? Diet?

Can you call the ER? Do they have an advice nurse phone number?

That’s a good idea. I hadn’t even thought about that!

This isn’t really related to your post, but you mentioning compazine reminded me of it. I once went to the hospital for terrible migraines (we didn’t know they were migraines at the time), and they gave me compazine. It was through an IV and it made my veins feel like they were on fire. I was SO uncomfortable and screaming and crying because of the pain. We’ve had to tell doctors I’m allergic ever since.

Now about your post, I don’t know much about concussions, but I think you should definitely get a second opinion if you feel like something’s seriously wrong.

So, i saw my doctor today. She said it was a concussion but also did an EKG to check on long QT’s, but it showed something about not enough oxygen so she sent me via ambulance to the ER. So now I’m sitting here waiting for a cardiac workup. It’s a small chance, but she was worried about the slim chance I was having a heart attack. So it’s been a fun morning.

Wish me luck.

That sounds awful. But I’m so relieved you went to see her quickly. It was a good call. And it would have still been the right call even if nothing had been wrong.

I hope your cardiac work up turns out alright.

I don’t know what’s going on. I think I’m waiting on the blood work results? It was kind of a flurry and then radio silence. Hopefully someone updates me soon.

The ER takes forever to do stuff,

But they’ll update you soon.

Keep us posted, @LED,

This situation seems super scary.

Also, I’m wearing really uncomfortable jeans because they look nice and I thought I would only be wearing them for 3 hours. Stretchy pants or bust from now on.

I’m trying to stay calm, but I’m really kind of freaking out. I had to send Mr LED and baby LED home because they were stressing me out more.

I won’t be your doctor, but I just might be your university professor of mathematics
