For example, the species Bartonella henselae is associated with cat scratch disease, which until recently was thought to be a short-lived (or self-limiting) infection.
It would be pretty sad if cats were to blame.

I agree. I’d hate to have to avoid cats. Ticks I can deal with, but nearly everyone I know has a cat.
