Parasite transmitted by soil and cat faeces may cause a FIFTH of cases, study claims
The researcher noted that in some countries, the prevalence of T. gondii infection is much higher than in the US and these countries also have a higher incidence of schizophrenia.
I lost track about here. Can someone tell me what this paragraph means.
“Some antipsychotic drugs can stop the parasite from reproducing, but studies in mice, rats and people have also shown that infection with T. gondii triggers changes in behaviour and personality”
The drugs can stop the parasite…but studies have shown…
How do the two parts of the sentence fit together? If you have it + take the right drugs, are you cured?
Well… it was from a Veterinary Journal… so its probably safe to assume that the author is a vet not a pdoc and he was writing it from his perspective.
