Bad skin. Acne. Help!

I literally tried lots of things. Visited several dermatologists. Used various cremes, even pills. Nothing seems to work
Only thing which seems to help is using less or zero makeup. Mostly foundation
Maybe you have some advice? :frowning: I am asking this, because I trully feel helpless.
I even several months ago bought whole line for pimples, which seems to make my situation even worse.

@FreeLunch you mentioned retinol.
Maybe you can share more what you know about it?

I read what @freelunch wrote and agree you should talk to your doctor about retinol.

Just regular retinol products could be enough though.

My best advice is to talk to the doctor, get a high end skin care routine and stop wearing makeup (especially foundation) for a little bit.

(You absolutely have to wear SPF with retinol products)

My sister used this and it worked super well.

Seems to be on sale right now so if you are considering it,

I’d jump on that deal.

The ■■■■ is expensive.

Big thanks @Charles_Foster

Clearly now I have several new ideas on how to treat these ugly things on my face :triumph:

I will def buy something with retinol now

Don’t give yourself a hard time.

Their not ugly and you’re not ugly.

I understand wanting to get acne under control but it doesn’t take away from the fact that you’re a beautiful woman.

I had acne in my youth and got it sorted with roaccutane.

Retinol will help immensely
There is also laser treatment that is non invasive and helpful.
You should see a dermatologist immediately rather than suffer. There really are solutions for what you have.

Don’t put foundation on it is probably aggravating your skin.

Retinols, as folks have said, will help for sure. And if you’re looking for medical-grade products, ask your doc or dermatologist about tretinoin.

Also, anything with salicylic acid will help with breakouts, such as cleansers or treatments.

(If using retinols, do those at night and your salicylic acids in the morning).

What are you using right now, if you don’t mind me asking? Also, is your skin dry, oily, or combination?

I was using tons of different cremes, serums.
I even tried antibiotics. Pills.
Right now I am using one line cosmetics which is called Mary Kay. I noticed its literally not for my face.

It’s combination.
It’s both oily and dry. I also have rosacea

Rinse your face with cool water…not hot or warm water. This will help control the acne outbreaks I believe.

Nooooo!

No Mary Kay.

It sucks, but you’re going to have to put a pretty heavy investment into your skin routine.

I also was diagnosed with perioral dermatitis at the beginning
But last dermatologist said it’s def acne and rosacea coming together

If you are worrying that much about it, you need to keep trying dermatologists… a doctor will give you the best answer.

I dont believe any amount of over the counter retinol, aha or bha will help you if a derm cannot.

Sadly my one friend recommended it for a very long time.
And I see it made my skin feel even worse.
Even itchy I would say :triumph:

I find the sukin cream cleanser works well for me. It is quite natural and is a little creamy so u don’t need to worry about adding moisturiser on face after which may block pores. And no make up might also help.

You look great even without anything on ur face.

My two pennies

Skincare lines from Cetaphil and CeraVe might be good options to try in the meantime— they are dermatologist-tested and recommended, and also won’t break the bank.

I agree with Charles, Mary Kay might not be the best option as it’s not targeted skincare to suit your needs. And it’s also making you itchy, so it clearly doesn’t agree with your skin at all.

Ultimately, you should consult with a professional to see which targeted options are best for you. They have knowledge of topical treatments and all sorts of tools that can help with your skincare needs :+1:.

I had bad acne in my teens and early 20’s. Much worse than what yours appears to be in my late teens. To me it looks like you don’t have any major permanent scarring, so I think your likely to be able see the light at the end of tunnel soon at your age.

I get zero ance now, and haven’t for a long time.

Thats great if you can figure out and afford all this skin care stuff, but I think you are probably entering the period where it will drop off more and more every year until there is little left.

I could be wrong and you could be different than me, but that was my experience.

I used Retin A when I was younger btw. Made my face red as hell and still did not get rid of them all.

In my 20s i took anti birth pills and they totally get rid of my acne…
Roaccutane is a solution, but its quite a serious pill…
I know nothing about the retinol…
And keep your head up, you are beautiful   :kissing_heart:
Me, i have very dilated pores and scars now from picking my skin for over 15 years, me too am trying to find myself pretty even with that…
i took this… My doctor told me at the time, that its quite light contraceptive and it was the one that worked wonders for me…
