Back in the hospital again

Looks like I might have the MRSA again. The doctor is sending me over because they don’t have the appropriate setup to test for it here, and because if it is positive I will need an IV. Wish me luck. I really dislike this situation.

Best of luck to you! Hope it’s not what you think it is and you recover quickly.

Wishing you a quick recovery.:pray:t4:

People in Sweden said I have Mrsa without symptoms but people in Australia said i definitely do not have Mrsa and if I ever had it I don’t have it anymore.

I’m sorry… Having that kind of stuff going on sucks

My IV stick went either poorly or too well depending on your point of view. There was a splatter zone. Not what you want when checking for deadly bloodborne diseases…

Hopefully, whether it’s MRSA or not, you’re ok. Please keep us posted.

Good luck. I had sepsis when I was heavily symptomatic and had to keep a pick line in my arm at all times and do my own IV antibiotic drip at home. Flushing the saline made me feel chilly inside. I am probably not helping… but do whatever you have to do to get better! You caught it and you’re treating it. That’s what is important.

I cant tell you guys how relieved I am to have an answer. My surgeon kept taking a wait and see approach because she couldn’t tell if it was an allergic reaction or MRSA. It apparently had signs of either one. For allergies it would be standard to give steroids. For an infection, that would be dangerous. And giving antibiotics when it isn’t necessary would make it more likely my MRSA wouldn’t respond next time I needed them. The ER doc was able to do more tests, and confirmed it was actually both. But the allergies are all just superficial so I just have to take benadryl about it.

I’m glad you get to go home

I hate taking benadryl. It is very triggering for me, because it makes me prone to vivid nightmares. The nightmares leave me creeped out and upset all day. But I have no choice. I will just handle it for a week. I am going to be a hot mess for this week though.

Can you take hydroxyzine for allergies instead or is that not good enough?

They prescribed that originally, but it made me very dizzy because of how it interacts with Gabapentin. They were worried about me falling, so they discontinued it.

The benadryl isn’t so bad. I just have to fall back on my crisis intervention tactics. I haven’t had to use them in a while, so I’m a bit out of practice. I think half the cause of the nightmares is the medication, and the other half is that it clouds my thinking, which is something I cannot stand. Being sharp and intelligent is a key point of my self-image, so when I am unable to live up to it, it frustrates me to a higher degree than it really should. I’ve been doing out loud affirmations that this is a temporary problem that will only last a week. Mr. Star also reminds me. It helps.
