Auto-deleting locked selfie threads

Hey guys. There has been a lot of discussion among the mod team, and we have made the decision to start deleting the selfie threads once they are closed. We are doing this for the following reasons

  • Many members regret posting their selfies later on, and we sometimes get overwhelmed with requests to delete pictures. This saves time for the mod team to work on other projects.

  • Members who have anonymized or left their accounts inactive are not able to request deletion of their photos, but may regret the images being up on this site.

  • This is supposed to be an anonymous site, and having pictures stuck online for all time is counter to that purpose. The selfie thread is too popular to shut down entirely, and having a single thread keeps people from spamming multiple threads with selfies, but they will be temporary from now on.

To that end, we have deleted all the old selfie threads. We are aware that some of you would have wanted to save some of the pictures prior to this action, but we have decided the safest option would be to delete them without notice, to prevent instances of people downloading other member’s selfies without their knowledge. Please keep in mind that any images posted on here can be found via google image search, and can be downloaded by anyone with or without an account.

Damnit. And and all my hopes were set on being immortalized on this forum by my all my selfies in my image.

WTH, I guess I’ll have to go have kids for a legacy now…ugh…

Fully support this. I’ve regretted a few of my own, though never wanted to bother a mod.

I just had a thought - that awful pic I put up with the muppet looking hair just out of bed - it’s on the previous selfie thread, I think…

…whew! I definitely regretted that one. That one did not deserve to break my camera in the first place, much less be posted on a searchable public forum! :rofl: :roll_eyes:

I liked to look at someone who is gone and the picture she gave me is lost. I dont like to save peoples pucs, but it is a common practice. Bye bye baby!

I think thats a good idea. I know some people get all paranoid about it, with their face on the web. Personally i dont mind at all. You take me as you find me lol.

Its good, that selfies go down its lots off unnecessary attention.
Targeted by search engines for easy access of a person.
Its so easy to find me.
I don’t share my name or location, but can still find me so easily.
I am sure mods can easily pin point me where I am typing this text from.
Anyways I feel safe, if it cause other an issue it can go down.
