At school note taking was always a problem for me

In school note taking was always a problem for me. Due to slow handwriting that decreased in legibility the faster I tried to write. There was no help and support for those of us with dysgraphia back then. Nowadays with videos I can watch a bit , pause, and in my own time type the information I need to have. Repeat until I have all the necessary info. It’s a laborious process, but better than what was possible to do in school.

Same, I was an excellent listener though. Back then. Though it wasn’t that long ago - 13years.

Now I’m not able to hold attention, have to take breaks. It’s not so bad when you’re feeling super motivated because of a passion for what you’re reading but when you’re not feeling the passion - it’s a painful chore type of feeling.

With me attention is dictated by how much something does or does not interest me. ADHD inattentive type possibly.

Same here, but I’ve found self belief is a big factor for me too. For example, when I think I can’t learn relativity cos it’s hard - I struggle, but when I feel like I can tackle it. I make progress.

On the journey back home today from London, I was thinking about the difference between intertia and interial frames - sometimes, doing the thinking passively is what makes the difference. It helps reignite the interest which I lose when I fail for not understanding things when actively studying

Edit: I’m bad at dealing with struggling, I give up entirely.

I’ve tended to be an ‘If an answer doesn’t come to me quickly, then I’ll flounder and panic’ type of person. I’m better than I used to be, but it’s an ongoing process.

My passion for learning dissipated after high school, in other words when college courses began. Needless to add, so did my note taking habit.

Several factors were to blame: disinterest in the curriculum, poor teaching skills on most professors there, undiagnosed depressive states.

My coping mechanisms involved secluding myself in a dorm room, binge watching movies, cartoons, playing online games that I felt I was being good at, and jogging.

While not as neat as some of my peers’, my hand writing was never an issue, even at slightly higher speeds. I can write with both hands although strongly favor the right hand.
