Are you able to work go to school on antipsychotics?

We’re you on meds

I work 2 casual library jobs thanks to ap’s. before that I was on no medication & unemployed for 7 years due to mental illness.

doesn’t making that much per hour put you at risk of earning too much for disability? espeicially in months with five work weeks. how many hours per week do you pull?

I go to school while on medicine. Sometimes my symptoms get in the way.

18 hours a week. Been doing it for 5+ years.

so don’t you go over the earnings limit? are you on SSI or SSDI? cause working that many hours per week in months with five work weeks would put you over the substantial gainful activity threshold. 1220 per month for SSDI.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^see above

But I do it…

Worked at Goodwill for .25-.50 an hour for 4 months. The meds were doing nothing but making me sleepy. Never got hired in. They wouldn’t even let me use them as a reference.

Beyond that-10+ job applications- no interviews.

I don’t want to hear doctors of any kind asking about work again.

I won’t waste my time.

%10-15 of Schizophrenics are working

People are ignorant here and will insult you to their buddies from 10 feet away if you don’t have a job and a girlfriend.

A lot of people lie.

Psych docs or internet articles that suggest that working is a reasonable final goal for rehabilitation simply don’t know what they are talking about.

.25-.50 an hour? Wow… What was their justification for that?

I tried working last year. It was too much. It was a very challenging, college/academic level job though. I will get a more low-key job if i can.

@TheNicestFreak hope you are not including myself in that comment I certainly do not have a go on anyone on here about not being able to work everyones SZ is different and so on.I have to work tbh because the Benefits I was getting are not enough to survive on.

@TheNicestFreak also your comment stated about certain members on here insulting people, I don’t see that tbh, also I don’t have a Girlfriend and no Friends a similar age

ive never had a job but im in the process of trying to get one, i feel like i can do it

I have a full time job and have for more than 5 years. I’m currently taking medication and I am doing well. I want to get off of the medication eventually but I also accept the possibility that I may never be able to. My pride makes me want to be completely normal with no medication, but I also need to be able to accept the fact that I may always need to take a pill to be normal.

You can do it, be persistent and you’ll get it. Also I recommend dressing really nice as I find it helps.

This is a misunderstanding. I’m talking about the new city I live in. Apologies.

I forget multi quoting so I’m talking about the area I live in . No distress intended.

It was more in the form of work rehabilitation than a permenant hire.
