Are you able to do a "third world squat"

Are you able to do and maintain a TWS? It seems that babies can do them effortlessly.

"Third World Squatting is being described as the single most valuable tool in unlocking athletic performance but its benefits do not stop there. Maintaining this position for prolonged periods of time:

Improves flexibility, mobility & posture
Improves core strength *
Improves digestion
Promotes circulation throughout the body
**& My personal favourite reduces the likelihood of Injury!
"*

I´m working my way through them. ATM I cannot do them without assistance, and I can feel the stretch a lot.

with or without lifting your heels? Knees have to be behind your toes aswell. Flat lumbar spine

When I try it without assistance I fall back

Did not even realize I was doing it, but yes, I appear to be lifting my heels.

Yeah, the exercise is “sitting” with your heels on the floor and your back straight. It´s a pretty comon posture in some Asian countries

Nope, I can not.

I’d need to work my way up to it.

It´s down, work your way down…

It is, but there is nothing better for core strength, general flexibility, stability and mobility!

I need both my knees replaced…I could do the squat but there’s no way in hell I’d be able to get up! I’d have to roll over on to my side and get up from there.

Yes, for about ten seconds.

It’s a start!

Really? You are in pretty good athletic form then!

I…I…is there a reason they call it a third world squat? (This is not a toilet joke)

It´s a pretty common way in some third world countries to sit in this position instead of in a chair or on the ground

But the question is… can you do it? :stuck_out_tongue:

You can start assisted by grabbing a door knob . I can almost do it bellow parallel without assistance, but I get the deep stretch and workout if I do it grabbing a knob.

It’s pretty easy.

Although I completed a daily yoga program with Adriene called Flow a few weeks ago. That helped a great deal.

Try it, it starts out for complete beginners like I was. The one I did was called ‘flow’, which seems to no longer be on there, but there are loads of 30 day challenges.
