Are you a good driver?

How many tickets have you gotten? How many accidents have you been in? Since I got sick in 1980 I have been in about 4 or 5 accidents. One of them was just me alone crashing my car into a tree. Another was me broadsiding some teenage girl. The other ones were the other persons fault. Right now I’m trying to take care of a ticket I got a couple of months ago. I almost ran a cop car off of the road accidentally. Considering I’ve been driving almost 40 years, I don’t think my record is that bad.

I don’t drive, I tried to learn before I got sick but anxiety keeps me from learning.

Wow nick I was thinking of making this thread earlier when I was driving. I am a great driver. Ever since a dui in 2011 I haven’t got a ticket. Only times I got a ticket was when I was psychotic and or intoxicated. I’ve made some mistakes driving but I am a skilled yet now careful driver.

Only accidents were caused by the other person. Been pulled over a bunch of times for smoking weed when I was younger but I have only gotten pulled over once since 2011 and that was ■■■■■■■■.

Now that I reread this I sound like a terrible driver but I assure you I’m not bad :sunglasses:

I haven’t driven in over fifteen years. It would probably take a little practice for me to get used to it again. I think I have gotten two or three tickets when I did drive. I can’t really remember. I’ve worked delivering pizza before, and driving is involved in that job. I did okay at that.

An accident when I was 16 made me very aware so I am a good driver but I don’t like to take chances in bad weather or unknown territory. One ticket for turning on red before it was legal, and one for following a car into an intersection and getting stuck there blocking traffic. Oh, and when I was a little crazy, I got my license suspended for two years for driving at night without my headlights on - repeatedly. That’s a pretty good record at my age.

Since 1995, I’ve totaled 4 cars and had 2 more accidents too. Luckily no one was hurt.
But I have to think maybe I’m not too good a driver. No tickets but I know not to drive psycho, a coworker drive me home 2 weeks ago. They. didn’t want me driving. Good glad I didn’t have my car for a few days because I go places and make a nuisance of myself.

i have hit three ( pedestrians ) :woman: :man: :boy: …on three different occasions…whoops !?!
i cracked my rib cage in an accident.
i was pulled over going 160 kmh ( the speed limit is 100 kmh )…the policeman actually did not book me…!?!

Yeah, I used to get pulled over a lot when I was a teenager. And I got caught with pot in the car a few times and alcohol once or twice. My first car when I was 17 was an old unpainted 1966 Chevy. My dad was right when he called my car a “cop magnet”. When you were driving in my town in 1978 when every other car on the road was a Porcsha or a BMW or some other nice car, an old unpainted car with a teenager driving it tended to draw negative attention.

Do you still drive Chordy?

Yes. Last April, I bought a 2008 Chrysler pt cruiser and I love it. My old 1996 Ford had worn out.

That’s pretty cool Chordy. I can just picture you driving down the street with a little head barely above the steering wheel peering around.

I’ve been driving for 12 years. I got pulled over by a police man once because I was driving too slow

Im a good driver sometimes a little edgy. Only got one ticket which was wreckless driving but i don’t count that considering the circumstances which i got it.

I’ve never been in an accident that was my fault - and by that I was only in one…I got rear-ended on the freeway when traffic was slowing down and the lady behind me was following too closely when I hit the brakes. I started shaking when I was taking down her information because I was both pissed and scared. I called the police, and they handled it and gave her a citation.

In 2003, I was pulled over in the HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane because I had no passengers. I was running out of gas, and regular traffic was at a standstill, so I got into the only moving lane. Unfortunately for me, there was a cop waiting. Got a $165 ticket. These days, however, it runs about $550!

I’ve never had a moving violation. That’s not to say I haven’t broken the law (I sped from Virginia to North Carolina in a Firebird with a V8 going 130 mph during Christmas, 2001), I’ve just never been caught. I don’t do that type of thing anymore, especially around here and the ticket-happy cops we have.

I guess I’d describe my driving style as offensively defensive.

Yeah, I got a ticket a few years back for driving by myself in the car pool only lane. I guess the lane is called by different names in different states. It cost me $350.00.
Wow! 130 mph. That’s pretty fast. The fastest I’ve ever gone was a 110 mph in my 1964 Ford Fairlane Station Wagon.
